A Splashy Tequila Drink Recipe to Kick Off the Weekend

tequila drink recipe, pomegranate juice, cocktail recipe

What do you get when you mix pomegranate juice, orange juice and grapefruit juice with the earthy flavors of tequila?? A refreshing tequila cocktail that I like to call the Tequila Breeze?because it?s a breeze to make and a breeze to drink.

Last week I posted another easy to make easy to drink cocktail, The Salty Dog.? Since I really liked how easy it was to make, I thought I would continue that concept this week.? Plus, with all of the Easter brunch and dinner activities that so many of you have planned, I thought this tequila drink recipe would be a welcome addition to your get together.

I realize that tequila isn?t necessarily the first kind of liquor you think of when it comes to Easter celebrations, but why not?? I?m not talking about doing tequila shooters or body shots with your family.? Tequila, silver tequila to be more precise, mixes extremely well with fruit juices and can make a light and refreshing cocktail.

This tequila drink recipe takes advantage of the oranges and grapefruits that are nearing the end of their season and combines them with the deep red color and rich flavor of pomegranate juice.? Thankfully, there?s no need to worry about pomegranates being out of season.? Now that pomegranate juice is so easy to get by the bottle, you can have it any time.? This cocktail recipe is really just that simple.? The flavors of the different fruits, combined with the subtle flavors of the tequila makes this drink taste like it?s got lots of different ingredients.

I used a silver tequila for this recipe because it blends with the fruit better than an A?ejo or Reposado will.? Plus, Craig would have killed me if I had used his aged A?ejo for a cocktail recipe like this.? Yes, there are times when I actually listen to him and the the contents of the household bar is one area where we both respect each others wishes, implicitly.

So if you?re planning a big Easter get together, why not mix up a big batch of this for your guests?? You can make up pitchers of the juice and keep it in the refrigerator and just add the tequila to the individual glass as people want.? And if there?s anything leftover, you can have the unadulterated juice for breakfast the next morning.? Oh, and keeping the pitchers of juice separate from the tequila should help keep any of the kiddos from accidentally getting any of the alcoholic juice.
